It’s a serious question.
I’d love to know and a cursory Google search doesn’t really help since it returns professional services organizations that build Pega BPM solutions.
The context of the question is straight-forward: I mostly work on BPM projects on IBM technology but increasingly I find myself engaged with clients that own multiple BPM suites.
Pega is a common technology to find in the portfolio so they often have Pega-trained professionals in their Center of Excellence. At some point during process discovery, I’ll encounter a throw-away reference to ‘local services in Pega’.
When questioned, local services seem to come down to a repeatable subprocess encapsulated in a single step in the process.
But, I’m wondering if there is more to it than that.
