Chalk is a simple iPad “application” from 37 Signals.
It has almost a laughable lack of functionality even by the minimalist standards of its creators. You get a blackboard, an eraser and two colors of chalk and off you go.
Still, I get the sense that we might be looking at an important moment in the history of Apple. 37 Signals has a strong sense of the trending technologies and Chalk is an interesting cocktail of emerging trends.
Chalk is built in HTML5, works offline and completely avoids the app store. It runs in the browser.
The product blog describes it as a proof of concept. I can hardly wait for the real thing.
